MEET CHRIS

NEW LEADERSHIP FOR SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA
I believe in former Congressman Mike McIntyre's sign in his office:
"This Office Belongs to the People of the Seventh Congressional District."

Christopher M. Ward, a native son of North Carolina, filed his notice of candidacy for the US House of Representatives District 07 on December 19, 2019.  District 07 has been redrawn to include part of Harnett County and all of Johnston, Sampson, Bladen, Pender, Columbus, Brunswick, and New Hanover counties.

Mr. Ward is a product of NC.  He was raised and worked on a farm in Tabor City, NC in Columbus County.  He was taught the value of hard work.  He was taught to treat people with dignity and respect.  He was encouraged to go to school and get good grades and make something of himself.  And he did.  Mr. Ward graduated top of his class from Tabor City High School.  He then went on to North Carolina State University in Raleigh to obtain his Nuclear Engineering degree.  After graduating, he began work in the pharmaceutical industry and traveled across the United States and the globe while calling NC home.  He later went on to get his Masters in Organizational Change and Leadership from Pfeiffer University.  He currently works to bring new drug products to market in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.  Mr. Ward is an active business owner in real estate in Southeastern NC.

Mr. Ward’s decision to run for Congress was made the night of the impeachment hearings.  He will be running as a Democrat.

I can understand the appeal of Donald Trump for many North Carolinians.  He is a billionaire, speaks his mind, and does not back down.  He is the American dream.  There are a number of characteristics that I admire about Trump, but he used the power of the Presidency for personal gain and to influence the election.  That is wrong, and that is why I am running.

Why am I running?  I am a product of NC, its school system and upbringing and southeastern culture.  I love NC and its people.  I grew up wanting to go to UNC, Duke, or NCSU.  I spent long summer days on the tobacco farm working until dark.  I went to church.  I want to help the people of NC.  I have been successful and I want to give back.  I want to be their voice in the Congress.  There are thousands of hardworking men and women that need a fair shake, not just lip service.  We need to respect the value of labor.  I was always told and believe a fair day’s wage for a fair day’s work.  There are so many North Carolinians that struggle to get by.  I want to change that.

The word Democrat is not a dirty word.  I care about people and I love North Carolina.  I want to do my level best to help grow and make prosperous US House District 07.

Top 10 things to know about me:

  1. I’m a Democrat, but don’t stop here, just read what I have to say.  I started out a Republican, but my views have changed over the years.  I consider myself more middle of the road.

  2. I am not a politician. I am not a lawyer.  I am not an accountant.  I have never ran or held political office.  I am a native of NC that grew up on a farm, went to college in NC, and have lived in NC my whole life and now I want to help the people of NC.

  3. I am a gun owner.  I believe in the 2nd amendment.  I also believe we have to get guns out of the hands of the mentally ill and people that would harm us or our children.

  4. I believe in the value of labor.  For far too long people have worked hard and struggled to get by.  We have to fix this situation.  The people of NC need an opportunity to get ahead.

  5. I believe in good education, teachers, and schools.  I would not be where I am today without them.

  6. I will not raise taxes.  Period.  The US is a very wealthy nation.  The middle class is overtaxed.  The government collects so much money, we just need to prioritize where it is spent.

  7. I believe in bringing good jobs to NC.  I believe we have some of the best citizens in the US.  They are hardworking and just want a fair shake in life.  They want a good life and an even better life for their children.  I want to take a stand for farmers and the rural way of life.

  8. I believe in God.  The United States of America.  And the great state of North Carolina.

  9. I believe that no one should go bankrupt trying to pay for healthcare. I believe no one should die in the street because they lack healthcare.  We need healthcare reform.  It should be affordable and available to all citizens.

  10. I want to represent the people of southeastern NC.  I want to be your advocate.  I will work hard for you.  You deserve a zealous representative that will work tirelessly to help the citizens of NC.  Who better to do that than a farm boy from Columbus County, who went off to school, made his fortune, has close ties and family in the district, and genuinely wants to help.  It would be a privilege and an honor to serve you in the Congress.
